Questions for a first CRM integration call

Begin with records and responsibilities rather than a list of connectors.

Trace one real record

Describe where a lead originates, what identifies it, which fields are needed and who takes the next action. Repeat the exercise for a duplicate and an incomplete submission. This reveals process gaps that a tool demonstration can conceal.

Ask about failure

Specify what happens when a system is unavailable, a field changes or an owner leaves. Ask about retry behavior, duplicate prevention, logs and alerts. A successful sample transfer is necessary but does not establish a maintainable integration.

Define handover before implementation

Request field mappings, access ownership, operating instructions and a test record set. Identify who maintains the integration and who approves changes to sales stages. If historical migration is needed, scope data cleanup and reconciliation separately from the live connector.

Take this checklist

  • Show a valid record and a duplicate.
  • Name the owners of fields and stages.
  • Test a temporary failure and recovery.
  • Request a maintainable handover package.
