Audit, launch or ongoing management: choose a working model
Choose the contract around the uncertainty you need to resolve.
An audit buys clarity
Choose diagnosis when you do not know the root problem or cannot define the implementation. Accept a prioritized findings document with evidence and next steps. An audit is not completed implementation, and its value depends on whether someone can act on it.
A launch buys a defined change
A project needs a bounded output, inputs, owners and acceptance tests. For a landing page, define content and form behavior; for advertising, define account structure and measurement tests. Changes to those assumptions should reopen scope, not silently absorb unlimited work.
Ongoing management buys a recurring process
A retainer should explain the operating cadence, prioritization and capacity. Ask what happens during a quiet month, a launch spike or a change of direction. A list of available services does not define what your team receives each period.
Take this checklist
- Name the uncertainty or output first.
- Match acceptance to the chosen model.
- Agree how additional work is estimated.
- Set the review and exit conditions.
