How to hand over a marketing project between teams
Preserve operational continuity through an inventory, an overlap and a tested exit.
Freeze a known state
Capture live campaigns, budgets, open tests, scheduled content and unresolved incidents. Record which version of each asset is current. Avoid launching unrelated changes during handover unless an operational issue requires them; a moving target makes verification harder.
Transfer context as well as access
The receiving team needs the reasons behind exclusions, tests and customer rules. Include the work log, source files, metric dictionary and failure procedures. Use a short overlap to demonstrate key operations and let the new team explain them back.
Accept before revoking
Verify that the new team can inspect reports, make an authorized change and restore a known state. Then remove obsolete permissions and confirm the client still owns recovery routes. Treat knowledge transfer and service continuity as acceptance criteria, not informal courtesy.
Take this checklist
- Live-state and scheduled-work inventory.
- Access, ownership and recovery review.
- Demonstration by the receiving team.
- Written acceptance and removal of obsolete access.
