Procurement questions for an international GEO agency
Buy a defined investigation and implementation process for AI-search visibility. Ask how the provider samples answers, checks citations and separates brand mentions from customer acquisition.

Request an auditable method as a deliverable
A GEO brief crosses procurement, public facts and search observation. Central owners can define the question panel and evidence rules; regional teams must validate local claims, languages and service availability before a provider changes or scores anything.
Procurement should ask for the prompt panel, scoring definitions, run log and export rights before signing. Regional reviewers should validate the questions and factual accuracy. The provider should not be the only party capable of interpreting its own report.
Agree how platform changes, unavailable answers and new markets are documented. If the agency changes a proprietary visibility score, preserve the previous definition and the raw observations. This prevents a methodological change from being mistaken for an improvement in market presence.
Specify the reporting method in procurement
Require the question panel, scoring definitions, run conditions and export format as named deliverables. Regional marketing should approve the questions; a central owner should maintain the common measurement rules. Ask how the supplier documents methodology changes. A proprietary score can supplement the report, but the organization needs enough raw evidence to understand and audit the conclusions without renewing a software subscription.

Set a regional claims-review process
Generated answers can misstate where the business operates or which services are available. Assign regional owners to verify those facts and a central owner to coordinate shared corrections. Keep a record of the source cited by the AI answer. Distinguish errors on company-controlled pages from third-party statements. This makes the implementation scope realistic and avoids holding the agency responsible for changes it cannot directly make.
The working sequence
- Request an auditable method as a deliverable
- Specify the reporting method in procurement
- Set a regional claims-review process
- Agree what constitutes an acceptable pilot
- Review the next bounded decision
Move to the next stage when the evidence is usable, not simply because a calendar date has arrived.
Agree what constitutes an acceptable pilot
Acceptance should cover the evidence archive, completed public changes and a documented interpretation of results. Require the supplier to explain failed observations and remaining uncertainty. Regional teams should be able to reproduce a sample of classifications. A pilot that delivers a transparent method can inform the next decision even if visibility does not improve; a favourable score without retained evidence cannot support a robust procurement review.
What to put on the comparison sheet
On narrow screens, scroll the table to see all columns.
| Pilot requirement | Evidence to request | Acceptance record |
|---|---|---|
| Method contract | Panel, scoring rules, run conditions and exports | Procurement can verify what the fee purchases |
| Local fact review | Country claims assigned to regional experts | Local owner approves factual changes |
| Evidence access | Raw observations and source snapshots | Central team retains records after contract exit |
Define which AI-search surface matters
GEO is commonly used to describe work intended to improve how a business appears in generated answers. That label is not a specification. Ask which products, search modes, languages and buyer questions the proposal covers. An answer generated without web search and a search-grounded answer are different observations.
Google says its usual SEO best practices remain relevant for AI features in Search and that no special additional optimization is required. That does not mean every AI product behaves the same way. The provider should distinguish platform documentation from its own hypotheses and tell you what it can actually change.

Ask to see the measurement protocol
Before work starts, agree a panel of buyer questions with a business reason for inclusion. Save the exact question, platform, date, locale and relevant session conditions. Repeat observations instead of selecting a single favourable screenshot. Keep failed runs and unavailable answers in the log so the denominator is visible.
Score different outcomes separately: a brand mention, a linked citation, a useful recommendation and a factual error. A citation can point to another publisher rather than your own website. Ask who checks whether the answer is accurate and whether the link actually supports the statement made about your business.
