# How to verify an agency case study before a sales call

Read the claim, its denominator and the agency’s actual scope separately.

## Identify the exact claim

Write down the metric, period, baseline and unit. Revenue, pipeline value and booked meetings answer different questions. If the case combines several channels, do not attribute the total to the channel you intend to buy. A percentage without its base is incomplete evidence.

## Separate publication from verification

An agency-authored case is a primary source for what the agency says. It is not automatically an independent audit. Look for a named client, visible work, dates, the agency’s role and the source of outcome data. A linked client site can support the existence of a deliverable without proving campaign economics.

## Test transferability

Ask what your project shares with the case: customer type, offer, buying cycle, team involvement and measurement quality. Then ask what would differ. The useful outcome is a set of implementation questions, not a promise to reproduce somebody else’s number.

- Capture the exact source URL and review date.

- Separate delivered work from outcome claims.

- Ask for the metric definition and base.

- Record the limits of applicability.
